“Dr. Ruth” as sometimes called in jest has been restoring dolls for ten years. All dolls are kept as close to the original state as possible. Estimates are made from photos .
This "young lady" had been stored in an attic for approximately 25 yrs. and was completely covered with mold. Her eyes also needed setting. The wig was very mangled and dirty. The costume she wore was so dirty it was the color of a rusty nail.
This photo was made after her body had been cleaned and painted. She also needed restringing. She is an Effanbee doll and is all composition. She is now in good health and back to her original state with the same clothes, wig, and body except for shoes which are purchased.
PATIENT IS NOW IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
This poor baby was given away to a young lady and was in "Critical Condition". She had no eyelashes, very molded, no hair, a missing porcelain tooth, chipped and cracked body. She has a porcelain head and composition body.
This infant had some markings on the back of her head which gave some clues for tracing her origin. After some research, it was discovered this was an original made by Armand Marseille in Germany in the late 1800s and quite valuable.
Christening gown, new shoes and tights. Dr. Ruth sculpted a new porcelain tooth, restored the body, human hair wig, cleaned face, made a new German infant that is indeed a prize for anyone’s collection.
